Easter week at Rural del Prado

Well, once again I'm several weeks behind in updating this blog! We wanted to share a little with you about the yearly event that took place the week before Easter, just a few blocks from our house. It was, indeed, a noisy week!

Elsewhere in Latin America, the week before Easter is called "Semana Santa," which is Holy Week. Here in Uruguay it's officially and legally called "Semana de Turismo" (tourism week), but it's also sometimes referred to as "Semana Criolla" or even Semana de Cerveza (beer week)! One of the largest cultural events of the year is held near our apartment in a place similar to a state fairground area. Here are some pictures of some of the sites and events:
